Homesteading

I have had a backyard homestead before (when we lived in Texas), and I am currently working on rebuilding it here!

We live on an acre of land which feels so rich and amazing. I have so many plans!

I have 21 baby chicks currently, and when they are big enough, we will move them into a huge shed-turned-coop. We have some work to do on it to make it a coop!

Robert will be putting a fence in for them to have a large space to free range.

The people who lived here before put in multiple fruit trees!

I plan to build multiple raised beds (and there are some here already). I purchased a LOT of seeds and plan to start some of those indoors very soon! Our outdoor growing season doesn’t start until the end of May, so I have a bit of time still! We have so much space for gardening!

I am re-purposing a lot of materials to make these raised beds. I’ve been doing a lot of research on our soil and the best way to amend soil to have a more successful gardening experience this year than I have in the past.

These are the things that I will be planting:

I’ve been making more and more from scratch, and I am working on building a business to sell my goodies! It will start with selling at a local “farm swap,” then at the end of May, I will be selling at a local Farmer’s Market!

Sourdough crackers, tortillas, hamburger buns, sourdough starter, fresh ground wheat tortillas, artisan sourdough loaf, and more! I’ll share more information on this once I get it up and going!
