As you all know, I have been struggling with my chronic cough, heaviness in my chest, shortness of breath, etc and it has really brought me down mentally. I decided a few days ago that I need to fight that. Despite how I’m feeling, I have a lot of good in my life and I know that the physical health issues will eventually be remedied. I trust God and His plan. Everything happens for a reason. I have seen it time and time again.
I actually decided yesterday to stop trying to follow the diet because I feel like it makes me think of it more and the diet was literally causing me depression. I felt free right away when I decided to stop. I see my doc tomorrow and I’ll talk to him about everything and see what he thinks. I did get a letter with the results of my biopsy and it was benign!
The other day I got in most of our curriculum and the Latchmate containers that I ordered, so I spent hours creating an organized minimalist homeschool area. No longer do I need an entire room (which is good because Levi is in that room now) because it all fits in little space.
I got the Latchmate containers really cheap. They are also pretty compact and hold everything including their supplies like pens and pencils.
Here is what my main homeschooling area looks like:
The top has our white board, art stuff (for the curriculum… extra stuff is still in Levi’s closet), and our morning time basket.
Underneath on the shelves is where the Latchmate containers are.
These containers contain their curriculum, spirals, and supplies. The smaller ones have their readers and the novel that they are reading.
We have a cabinet at the bottom of our pie safe that holds the math manipulatives, science kit, and binders (that I still need to organize). The top has our whole foods in jars and tea and tea party stuff.
In the bins in our tv shelf are some great books that I want my kids to read. I got rid of a LOT of books that I knew no one would ever read and kept the ones that I really want my kids to read. We will also go to the library often so the kids can pick out books.
I also kept only my favorite picture books, nature study books, and ocean books (for our marine biology unit). They all fit on this shelf. There are a few other random books here as well.
And besides some containers of paint, markers, crayons, and a few others, this is the extent of our homeschooling stuff.
