Being My Healthiest Self

This pic was taken when we were at Big Bend Ranch State Park.  I want to go again.  I can’t wait till it’s warmer during the nights.

Here’s another pic:

It’s so beautiful.  The dessert hills.

I went to the doc yesterday.  Well, technically I see the nurse practitioner.  She’s so amazing.

1) She doesn’t judge me for my weight.  She is happy with the fact that I’m focusing on reducing/eliminating food and drink that affect me in a negative way.  For me this is what makes my reflux bad/worse.  She’s happy that I have figured that out.

2) She said that she really thinks my cough is from allergies.  She suggested that I take Zyrtec, Flonase, and Mucinex DM again and if those don’t work, she will prescribe me a steroid.  She prefers to do that as a last resort because of the side effects.  I really, really wish I could use essential oils; unfortunately, they make my cough way worse.

3) She seemed truly happy for me that my mental health meds have truly helped me to be joyful and anxiety/depression free most of the year.  She and I talked about that even though I don’t like taking all of this medicine, if it works, it’s worth it.  I would never want to go back to the symptoms that I had because of Bipolar 2 and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.  I am a different person.

4) My friend Jen (who is one of the founders of Balance 365) has reminded me that my self care this year has affected me in such a positive way.  It’s amazing what self care does for anyone, especially someone with health issues.  It’s absolutely necessary and my full time job.  I have learned to make changes and decisions based on how it will make me feel.  This, in turn, helps me to be a better wife, mom, friend, daughter, etc.  It has been so worth it for me and everyone in my life.

In addition to seeing my nurse practitioner, I picked up meds, picked up a grocery order, bought a few things from Walmart, and got a Starbucks on the way home.  I plan to blog about my grocery pick up in a few.

After being in town all day yesterday, I wanted nothing more than to be with my family.  We had ramen and watched a Transformers movie (Levi’s choice… he turned in his coupon of a movie rental… they earn coupons as rewards).

I love this candle that I got!  I know it’s not natural, but that’s okay.  I can handle it better than essential oils.

I do the best I can, but I’m all about balance and just doing things that make me happy and make me feel healthy.
